e) Are you still working for yourself and if so how is it going? (Are you prepared at some point to share some of your experiences?)

c) Your capacity for fun and frolics.
d) Watching you pull off Prospero with impressive and compelling aplomb.
e) When you lived in Ulster, did the Troubles ever touch your life? (apologies if I've got that wrong, but I remember that you used to live in Ulster).
f) You only have one, so I love this one ;-)
Re: i need to feel validated - Answers...
Date: 2008-09-18 08:00 am (UTC)re e) The closest I ever got to being touched to the troubles was when I heard a bomb in my home town. I was very lucky, one of the 10% who didn't have a relative involved in some way. I guess it comes from living in the middle class commuter town that is Bangor, raised by middle class, moderate viewed teacher parents. There were of course the 'common' occurances that I saw (and still see) to some extent as normal ... armoured landrovers with soldiers out the top, with machine guns, cops carrying revolvers, bubbling bigotry under almost ever surface. Living in the home counties now makes me realise that being a 'child of the troubles' certainly has given be a unique upbringing.
Re: i need to feel validated - Answers...
Date: 2008-09-18 12:44 pm (UTC)I have a very skewed view of Ulster and 'The Troubles'. At its height I had pseudo-family in the Services and my father was becoming quite visible in the TA, so I had a certain level of fear wrt Republican Paramilitary organisations (i.e. not __just__ the IRA). At school one member of staff who became a particular mentor (and frankly as close to being a friend while I was there as was possible and he certainly was one after I left though we have lost touch these days) was a rich source of stories and authenticity about Northern Ireland, as he had done two of his three tours in Ulster seconded to Military Intelligence and had definitely walked the walk here and there. All of this, and yet despite a continued fascination with the social divides, and a thankfulness that violence has become less and less of a factor there, I have never visited. I am hoping to correct that in the next year or so, so I guess at some point you'll read my impressions on here or we'll talk about them...

d) I think it may well be your wedding day, now - before that it had something to do with a bottle of Southern Comfort ;-)
e) Is there anything you really don't like about having a twin?
f) I like this one - you look like a happy version of Daria ;-)
Re: Answers...
Date: 2008-09-18 11:38 am (UTC)1. For some people, me being a twin defines who I am, moreso than just sister.
2. The fact that I think Ju and I would probably get on better if we were sisters rather than twins. There would be a more obvious pecking order maybe, different stages at which to shine/fulfill expectations, different birthdays, less to share. Maybe we wouldn't resent each other at times.

Anyway, to the answers...
a) I don't think I 'friended' you on LJ until we had met a few times in real life, but we are now much better friends in Real Life(tm) than we were then, which pleases me :-) I guess I originally 'friended' you because
b) Modelling / Model Photography... Of all the people I've worked with you are the closest I have come to a muse, and you will always be fundamental to my thoughts / feelings about shooting people :-)
c) You are a Master of Fun! Hanging out with you is always a giggle and it is one of the things I like about you best.
d) Our first shoot will always stick with me, for many reasons, but not least for the hat, the giggles between shots when you were nose to nose with Cathy (sans-lj) and for the fun in general...
e) Do you think you'll ever have really crazy hair ever again?
f) It would have to be 'llama smoocher', closely followed by your default 'dreads' icon.
Re: Answers...
Date: 2008-09-18 01:39 pm (UTC)IRT e) probably not! Need to stop ruining my hair with chemicals, need to hold down a grownup job....
Re: Answers...
Date: 2008-09-18 01:43 pm (UTC)Anyway, I get what you mean about hair and jobs and things, but I was really referring to falls / dreads like in your default icon - mostly 'cos I never got to photograph you like that and I'd like to, but I __get__ that there may well be either an inordinate amount of hassle or simply an impossibility factor wrt to having them temporarily for the purposes of shooting...

c) So far, what I like about you is that when we hang out we might end up talking about anything, and generally it will be a surprise, __and__ while you don't take any shit you are not a judgemental person either, so the conversation can range far and wide without me feeling that I have to censor myself.
d) Chatting to you and Miriam about the 'hop-a-long todger' when you were a bit p*ssed in The Rising...
e) Why don't you like being photographed, or more specifically why don't you like your face to be photographed? Feel free to tell me to bugger off, it's just that I am still curious.
f) This icon, 'stripey' - it is clearly 'you' without showing your face; a kind of portrait we have discussed before, and yet you have already pulled it off.
Re: Answers...
Date: 2008-09-18 02:38 pm (UTC)The stripey legs pic was taken by Paul, many moons ago at Whitby. It's been recreated on a number of occasions though, I've got a photo of both mine and Bunny's stripey UV legs at the Rising which is quite cool : )

c) You let me take pictures of you, and seemed to enjoy the experience - this makes you great! FWIW you are also fun to chat to / hang out with and my impression is that you are a generous person who 'does' for their friends without being a martyr or a doormat, and seeing as that is what I try to be I tend to like people who come across that way to me.
d) Boots, wooden throne, corset(s) and studio lights.
e) How did you discover that you loved climbing..?
f) They are all three of them good, but I (predictably) like 'corset' best ;-)
