Go Joss, go! At last the truth is known! Ok, ok, so I'm actually not that foaming a Whedon fan, in truth, and Star Wars is and will ever be my first love (child of the 70's me), but this has got to be the most telling zeitgeist temperature indicator in a decade - criminals are cooler than Jedi...

Can you check your HTML in this post, it's breaking up my layout.
FF claims that blockquote may be the primary culprit, or ossibly some rogue TR/TDs

I have checked the syntax and there is nothing here that shouldn't be, and by the way it's not breaking the layout in my Firefox 2.0.0.3 browser. Can you email me a screenshot and I'll pass it on to clipmarks (http://clipmarks.com) as a bug, seeing as this post was auto generated by their Firefox plugin and they claim to produce LJ-safe markup...

It's what I'm using..
I'll try and get a screenshoot and an error text from FF ^U
It's complaining about tr/td inside the blockquote with no table.

Which platform are you reading it on, Dave?

Cos I'm with Ol - the clip works fine for me on WinXP, using Firefox 2.0.0.3.

(By fine, I mean that the SGML Parser says there are 330 errors on this page, obviously ... but they're not interfering with the display.)

I see what you mean.

I'd guess it's a problem for the interaction between the LJ style you use and the clippit HTML then.

Aye - I feel that [livejournal.com profile] jfs is correct... Can you try a different LJ layout (temporarily) and tell me if it works better? That way we can properly notify Clipmarks about the bug.

The style is "they default" but with some extra css of mine (still the S1 system, not S2) so changing dtyle would lose that?...

At my end it's obvious - the HTML goes
table
tr
td
div [possibly open?]
div /div
blockquote
tbody
tr
td /td /tr /tbody
tbody
....

and that first blockquote tag causes the browser to terminate that table so the next /table closes the outer table

Breaks on XP/IE7 as well.

I saw this yesterday and it annoyed me a bit. 'Better than Star Wars' issues aside (yes I too am of the 70's) Serenity was a solid sci-fi film but no great shakes, I still think its formula was messed with to make it work cinematically. For me Firefly was loads better, it made more sense on TV and that isn't, as some would think, a criticism, some things are TV shows, some things are films one is not superior to the other.

Similarly I don't think The Simpsons will work as a film.

Well, The Flintstones didn't. Twice.

I do see your point...

... in fact I agree with all of it. I really was trying to make a tongue in cheek observation about "the now" and how a film about "sympathetic" criminals was somehow cooler than a film about alternate reality analogues for chivalric knights - of course it's actually a bollocks, inflammatory point, 'cos the ensemble of Firefly are in a similar political / moral position as the Rebel Alliance in the original three Star Wars movies, and Han Solo is a criminal extraordinaire... I guess I'm that bored at work today that attempting to rile the Lucas faithful was a tempting prospect - I apologise...

Didn't mean to sound aggressive.

No, I wasn't having a go or anything just pushing my 'I liked Firefly but found Serenity rather sterile/mechanical and too steeped in the things that I don't like about Joss Weedon' agenda.

It is in no way better than

Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone.

Lets compare:

SPACE HUNTER SERENITY
Molly Ringwolds 1 0
Michael Ironsides 1 0
Gladatorial Death
maze assault course 1 0
Fat Maggot men attacks 15 0
Intergalactic Dustmen 1 0
Life sucking
legless Villains 1 0
Wind and Steam powered
Trains 1 0

SH clearly a winner

The first mention fo Space Hunter in any given month wins a £5 postal order I believe. Well done.
