That was the weekend that was...
Jan. 23rd, 2006 07:15 pmSo, on Friday I was supposed to go to London to have drinkies with Helen... Unfortunately she was indisposed and so I could not go... Luckily I was rescued by
snorkel_maiden, Tom, MarcT, Helen C and Helen T (all sans LJ) and I joined them in Pavlov's Dog for Guinness and being jealous of the people that were in the smoking section. :-(
Even so it was fun, nice to catch up with Helen C (who I almost never see) and stuff...
MarkT's friend, whose name I have again forgotten - apologies - turned up and shortly after I received a call from Di, Jacob and Helen (yes another one - and all sans LJ as well) informing me that there was a plan to head to the Fez for the House and Hip-Hop night, oh yeah and more drinks. I thought what the hell and dragged all that would there as well.
We boogied in the House room and we drank shots and Reef and were generally silly - it was fun. Then we went upstairs to the Hip Hop room and it was boring and a bit intimidating, so we went back downstairs only to be told that it was done for the evening. Di and I left, and whilst she got chips I was accosted by a couple of Beecher fans who were bummed out about the break-up. Was nice that they cared and they said good things to me about the whole lot, I must remember to tell the guys next week...
Saturday was a day of recovery, naturally, followed by an abortive attempt to see Brokeback Mountain with
snorkel_maiden which turned into a slow Wagamamma and then a drink in the Global Cafe - mmmm Desperados.
Sunday was DJ school, as Di and I were taught how to use the excellent (and free) Audacity to make podcasts, by the lovely Jacob. He had to head off before it was dark as he had an Argos mission and thence to fight his way back to Watford...
There we were filled with enthusiasm and a little new knowledge (a dangerous mixture at the best of times) and so it was that D'Oily Radio was born...
Please go and have a listen, if only to laugh at the whole thing - bottom line, we had a blast doing it, and we are going to do it again, so as far as I'm concerned if anyone else likes it it's a bonus. I guess making a podcast is like making a mix CD for anyone who can be bothered to download it, so anyway...
Today was work and enough said about that the better - not that it's getting worse, it's frankly getting better.
Peace Out!
P.S. The Vanessa Mae track was not my idea!
